Who this course is for :

• Open Water divers (including Junior Open Water divers) who want to learn how to use nitrox mixtures up to 40% with a nitrox-programmable dive computer

Course prerequisites :

• Certification: SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, or equivalent.

• Minimum age: 18, or 10 years old with parental consent.

What you can expect to learn :

• History of Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN).

• Physiology of oxygen and nitrogen.

• Equipment considerations (less than and more than 40% oxygen).

• Dive computers: mix adjustable, air integrated, nitrox programmable.

• Advantages and disadvantages:

  • Extending no-decompression time or shortening surface intervals.

  • Oxygen toxicity hazards and depth limits.

  • Myths and facts about EAN.

• Equivalent Air Depth (EAD): introduction for demonstration.

• Procedures:

  • Use and theory of an oxygen analyzer.

  • Gas analysis and logging.

  • Completing and signing fill station EAN logs, including MOD and O₂ content.

This class is based on planning and using a dive computer for your dive.  If you have a dive computer, you will need to bring it to class.  If you don't have a computer this would be a great time to take advantage of the discount and buy your own computer!  If you're not ready, we do have dive computers for you to see/use during class. 
 

Equipment needed for course:

• Enriched Air capable dive computer

You must sign up in advance, with enough time to complete the eLearning materials (4-6 hours minimum) prior to the course date. 

The course date you choose is the actual hands-on portion of the class.  If the eLearning or forms are not completed prior to the start of the class, you will need to be rescheduled to another class and a $50 rescheduling fee will be assessed.
