SDI Open Water Scuba Diver
Unlock the door to the underwater world with the SDI Open Water Diver certification, your first step into true diving freedom. You’ll learn at your own pace through eLearning, build confidence with pool training, and experience the thrill of open-water dives as you earn your passport to explore dive sites around the world.
This course is designed to take you from the basics to confidently completing your first open-water dives. You will develop essential scuba skills in a controlled environment and put them into practice during a weekend of open-water exploration.

What’s Included:

Personal Gear Required:
You’ll purchase your own mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and SMB/DSMB; ensuring comfort, safety, and a personalized fit for your diving journey.
Training Schedule:
Once you’re registered, you’ll receive access to your eLearning to complete the academic portion at your own pace. From there, your training unfolds over a series of guided sessions:
- Orientation Session (Thursday Evening): Meet your instructors and classmates, review key concepts, complete a knowledge check, and get fitted for your scuba equipment. You’ll also learn how to properly assemble and handle your gear.
- Pool Training (Typically Sunday): Develop essential skills in a controlled environment as you complete confined water training and prepare for the lake.
- Open Water Weekend (Lake Training Site): Put everything into practice over two days of open water dives, where you’ll demonstrate your skills and earn your certification.
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 10 (Junior programs available upon request)
- Basic swimming ability: 200-yard swim and 10-minute float/tread
- Health: Good overall health for diving activities (Medical questionnaire required)
Important Notes:
- Preparation: eLearning and required forms must be completed prior to the orientation session.
- Equipment: All non-store-purchased equipment must be inspected prior to use.
- Student Discount: You will receive a 10% in-store student discount on the required personal gear (mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and SMB) for this course.
