Chris Newins

Chris Newins

Chris is an SDI, SSI, and PADI Divemaster with over 1,000 dives and 23 specialty certifications since beginning his diving career in 1993. He is highly trained in technical support, serving as an Air Fill Station Technician, VIP Inspector, and Advanced and Nitrox Gas Blender, as well as an Emergency Care Instructor.

A retired Suffolk County Police Officer, Chris spent seven years as the Divemaster for the department’s dive team and played key roles in the Gilgo Beach Serial Killer investigation and the TWA Flight 800 recovery. He has also served more than 41 years with the Wantagh Volunteer Fire Department, including 10 years as Assistant Coordinator of its dive team.

Beyond diving, Chris is a national champion powerlifter, a licensed Athletic Trainer, and a Physical Therapist Assistant in NY and Florida. He is also an active bagpiper with both the Wantagh American Legion Pipe Band and the Suncoast United Pipes and Drums.
