This time, he’s taking you to Orange Grove Sink, located in Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park, just east of Perry, FL—about 4 hours north of Letts Dive Shop. Nestled in a lush natural setting, this crystal-clear spring offers an incredible Open Water experience.

Join the King of the Springs for One Last Adventure!

As our 2025 Florida Springs trips come to a close, don’t miss your chance to dive with Instructor John Mowrey—the King of the Springs—on a brand-new adventure to one of Florida’s hidden gems!

This location, tucked within Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park, is typically known to cave divers, but it offers a fantastic Open Water dive for all certified divers. No cave diving allowed for this group — you’ll stay completely within your training limits.

 

About the Dive:

Slip beneath the duckweed into crystal-clear spring water, and take in the stunning rock formations along the sink walls of Orange Grove Sink. This unique dive site boasts:

  • Water Temp: 69°–71°F year-round
  • Visibility: 30'–60'
  • Depth: 28'–104'
  • Facilities: Changing stalls, portable toilets, picnic tables, gear stands, and stair entry

 Getting There:

Travel time from Letts Dive Shop is about 3.5 to 4 hours, so consider heading up the night before if early mornings aren’t your thing.

  • Park: Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park, 180th St, Live Oak, FL 32060
  • Nearby Town: Live Oak, FL (hotels available)
  • Important: The address is approximate. John will provide exact directions and meeting info before the trip.

Upon Arrival:

  • Sign in at the park entrance (no gate—look for the Iron Ranger)
  • Fee: $4 per vehicle (up to 8 people), paid via honor box (bring exact change)
  • Parking: Just inside the park, near the Orange Grove Sink entrance

The park posts the following rules for divers

  • All divers must show proof of certification before diving or leave certifications visible on the dashboard of the car.
  • All divers are asked to sign in using the diver sign-in form.
  • Dive parties must consist of at least two divers. No solo diving is permitted.
  • Open water divers are allowed in Orange Grove Sink only.
  • Open water divers are not permitted to carry lights.
  • Dives must be conducted in designated areas only and within the limits of the diver's certification.
  • Entering or surfacing anywhere but Peacock Springs or Orange Grove Sink is prohibited unless necessary to ensure the safety of the divers.
  • The use of scooters (DPVs) is prohibited within the park.
  • Fossils and other artifacts are not to be disturbed or moved. Any aquatic plants or animals that you encounter shall not be trampled or otherwise disturbed.
  • Do not carve or otherwise deface rocks or any other surfaces.
  • Dives must be concluded one hour before sundown.
  • All persons participating in scuba diving activity do so at their own risk.

 

Equipment:

There is no gear rental or tank service at this location, so you need to bring all your equipment including tanks with you when you come.
