The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. As a PADI Divemaster, you’ll lead others as you supervise scuba diving activities and assist with diver training. Whether you want to work at a faraway dive destination or close to home at a local dive shop, the adventure of a lifetime awaits you.

PADI Divemasters are respected dive professionals who are aligned with the largest and most respected dive organization in the world.

Working closely with a Letts Dive Instructor, you’ll fine-tune your dive skills, like perfecting the effortless hover, and refine your rescue skills so you anticipate and easily solve common problems. You’ll gain dive knowledge, class and student management, dive leadership and supervision abilities as you become a role model to divers everywhere.

PLEASE NOTE: This program is designed to be completed within 4 months but can be done earlier based on your motivation and availability.  The first course date is the beginning of the class where you will work on documentation and discuss what you will be doing during the program.


Prerequisites for this course include:

  • At least 18 years old
  • PADI Rescue Diver
  • Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months.
  • A medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
  • At least 40 logged (and verifiable) dives to begin the course and 60 dives to earn the certification.

Note that qualifying certifications from other diver training organization may apply – ask your PADI Instructor.


You are required to own you own equipment including the following:

  • Mask, snorkel, fins, boots
    • Mask must be non-mirrored; fins must be scuba fins - not snorkel fins or freediving fins
  • BCD
  • Regulator set equiped to be able to demonstrate all skills as prescribed
  • Appropriate thermal protection
  • Dive Computer
  • Two surface signaling devices –
    • one audible - whistle or noise device
    • one visible - DSMB with a reel
  • Compass
  • Cutting tool
  • Dive lights
    • 2 lights and a tank light
  • Dive flag and float
  • Blank dive slate or way to communicate in writing underwater

It's recommended that you own the following:

  • Scuba tanks (recommend 2 tanks)
  • Gloves
  • Hood
  • Weights


Included in the price of the course

  • Divemaster eLearning,
  • Divemaster Crew Pack which includes PADI messenger bag, slates, & logbook.
  • Use of scuba cylinders
