Join the millions of divers who have discovered the underwater world through this globally recognized training experience. This structured, hands-on course is designed to take you from the basics to confidently completing your first open-water dives.
Once you’re registered, you’ll receive access to your eLearning, allowing you to complete the academic portion at your own pace before stepping into the water. From there, your training unfolds over a series of guided sessions:
- Orientation Session (Thursday Evening):
Meet your instructors and classmates, review key dive concepts, complete a knowledge check, and get fitted for your scuba equipment. You’ll also learn how to properly assemble and handle your gear. - Pool Training (Typically Sunday):
Develop essential scuba skills in a controlled environment as you complete confined water training and prepare for open water dives. - Open Water Weekend (Lake Training Site):
Put everything into practice over two days of open water dives, where you’ll demonstrate your skills and earn your certification. - Computer Nitrox Training (Post-Certification Add-On):
After completing your Open Water certification, you’ll return to the Letts Dive Education Center—where your journey began—to complete your SDI Computer Nitrox Diver training. These sessions are typically held 1–2 times per month on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 6–9 PM (Link to class dates: https://lettsdive.com/courses/sdi-computer-nitrox-diver), making it an easy and flexible way to expand your capabilities and start diving with enriched air.
What to Expect:
- A step-by-step progression from classroom to pool to open water
- Professional instruction focused on safety, confidence, and enjoyment

Requirements:
- Minimum age: 12 (Junior programs available upon request)
- Basic swimming ability (200-yard swim and 10-minute float/tread)
- Good overall health for diving activities
Important Notes:
- eLearning and required forms must be completed prior to the course start
- Personal gear is required for training (mask, snorkel, fins, boots, SMB/DSMB, and education kit)
- All non-store-purchased equipment must be inspected prior to use
This experience is designed to be smooth, engaging, and rewarding—giving you the skills and confidence to explore the underwater world safely while building a strong foundation for future diving adventures—and then take it even further with Nitrox.
